Starbase Atlantis San Diego

Description:

DoD STARBASE is a premier educational program, sponsored by the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs. At DoD STARBASE students participate in challenging "hands-on, mind-on" activities in aviation, science, technology, engineering, math, and space exploration. They interact with military personnel to explore careers and make connections with the "real world." The program provides students with 20-25 hours of stimulating experiences at National Guard, Navy, Marine, Air Force Reserve and Air Force bases across the nation.

Starbase Atlantis offers a week of science for homeschool families with children ages 8 to 12. This is an excellent opportunity for young persons to learn the applications of science and math in space exploration, engineering, and technology.

My girls had a wonderful time in this week long, free, science camp. They built cars of balsa wood and raced them on the last day of camp. Air pressure, acceleration, gravity, computer technology, flight simulation, and others, were only a very few of the many topics experimented with that week. They can't wait for next year to participate again!
