 | | Nancy R, Co-op Member | | Our family loves Skyline Caverns and have been several times. We aim for a weekday when crowds will be at a minimum. But frankly, crowds have never been much of a problem in the past few years. We had a personal tour - just our family - while there in late May. The guides are good but stumble at times when going "off script." As is the case in most commercial caves the script includes comparisons of the natural features ("do you see the flying duck?")and corny jokes but the features themselves and the skillful lighting highlighting them makes it all worthwhile. Plus, this cave is one of the few where you can find the lovely anthodite formations. Tour lasts about an hour, remember to bring a jacket and your camera! For a meal you might try Spelunker's just down the road in Front Royal. |
