 | | Darcie M, Co-op Member | Because of the flooding in 2008, the Science Station is now located in Lindale Mall (4444 First Avenue NE. Cedar Rapids, IA 52402). We just went yesterday! The location is smaller than what we they had previously downtown, but we had a great time! There is no longer an IMAX theater. I brought a 5 year-old and a 2 year-old. The youngest was free and I just paid $3 for myself and my oldest.
Right now they have a lot of dinosaur activities and displays including a long cave to crawl through, lots of dinos to play with, a robotic dino at the entrance, an archeology "dig" and a really cute Lego dino set to play with.
They also have a section with construction materials and a book nook.
There is a section with about 10 different science experiments to do which would be interesting for older children. My 5 year-old also liked them, but needed help to understand what the experiment was showing.
There is also a small room with some neat puzzles and math displays.
They have a small gift shop and we bought two great magnet sets.
You can leave, grab a bite to eat in the mall, and then come back and play some more. There is also a small indoor play area at the other end of the mall.
Have fun! |
