 | | Kristen Borseth, Co-op Member | | Fun interactive museum. They have live reptiles on display, a weather station (where a local TV station sometimes does their weather report from), a planetarium and a traveling display (when we were there it was about germs and the body). Also, the IMAX is a great experience. |

 | | Ann R, Co-op Member | This is a really nice science center for a wide variety of ages. It has hands on activities for the toddlers thru early teens.
It has a wide variety of themed rooms including: space/weather, natural environment (with snake and other reptiles), physics area, bubble room, lego races, rocket making station, and various ball mazes that the kids construct.
It's a large facility that never seemed crowded despite the amount of people that were there.
My kid's favorite areas were the rocket launch area where you construct your own paper rocket and launch it up to 50 ft. Another favorite area was the lego car races where you made your own lego car and raced it on a timed track. The last favorite area was the physics room where air pushed up a ball and kept it floating.
My kids age 5,8, and 11 all enjoyed themselves for over 2 hours. We've been here 2 times so far. |

 | | Laura M., Co-op Member | This is a good deal if you have the Science Center pass (or a reciprocal pass).
I like it that this museum is well-laid out for family fun. I can interact with the younger ones and keep an eye on the entrance to each section and not loose any children. Some science centers are set up like mazes or a continuous walk but this one is more set up as "rooms".
We like the "Star Theater" where we can learn about the stars, watch some educational video about the planets or history... (and sit and relax a little while). It is free.
My children, ages 2-15, all enjoy going to the Science Center.
We haven't gone to the IMAX there. |

 | | Diane Nelson, Co-op Member | The Science Center of Iowa has always been a great place for our Homeschool Assistance Program students to head for a field trip. Recently we spent a morning there touring the Science Center on our own, viewing the terrific Human Body IMAX, and getting to be on the WHO TV13 noon news along with the station's meteorologist.
The Science Center offers many educational programs that need to be scheduled a few weeks in advance. |
