Description:Wonders of our Water Works Tour - The San Jose/Santa Clara Water Pollution Control Plant plays a vital role in protecting and preserving San Francisco Bay and has received numerous environmental awards during its 50 years of service. It is one of the largest advanced treatment plants in the nation and a marvel of engineering and technology. The adjacent Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge is the largest urban wildlife refuge in the U.S. and home to two endangered species. Located along the Pacific Flyway, millions of shorebirds and water fowl stop to refuel at the Refuge during the spring and fall migrations.
