| Description: | The San Diego Hall of Champions Sports Museum evolved from the Breitbard Athletic Foundation, an organization Bob Breitbard founded in 1946 to honor San Diego athletes. What began as sports memorabilia collected by Breitbard in his garage has grown into a San Diego institution. The Breitbard Athletic Foundation started in 1946 and later evolved into the San Diego Hall of Champions, located in Balboa Park's Federal Building. There is something for everyone to enjoy at the San Diego Hall of Champions. Its place for old-time San Diegans and transplants to celebrate a city that loves all kinds of sports and honors sporting legends both homegrown and adopted. |
