As your average zoo this one more than fits the bill - if you are a true "zoo afficianado" you may be a wee dissappointed in the lack of variety and the somewhat unimaginative exhibits, however; any children you bring will be delighted. It is actually the perfect size (14 acres)and can be enjoyed in a single day.Open since 1927, the Sacramento Zoo is home to over 140 native, exotic and endangered species and is one of over 200 accredited institutions of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
There will be something for everyone I guarantee it. Sacramento Zoo is home to more than 400 animals which include snow leopards, a red panda, and much more. In addition to these animals the zoo offers two beautiful lakes, a butterfly/ hummingbird garden and a garden dedicated to animal sculptures. The zoo has picnic areas, concession stands, gift stores and the usual ammenties. This is a good place to take children and just have a fun day. Admission for adults is $7 and children about $5. They offer a few free days each year as well. One caveat is the afternoons can get quite hot in Sacramento and that means sleepy, hiding animals so plan accordingly. Final remark is Kids and animals = a fun day.
