Anybody who lives in North Carolina near this area should visit this site as a part of North Carolina history. There is just something special about thinking that a large chunk of gold was found right in North Carolina. We are so programmed to think California! To see the place and read the history is interesting. We did not do the extra activities but found the visit pleasant.
