Quecreek Mine Rescue Site

Description:

Nine miners were trapped underground in July 2002 for five days. This is the rescue site where all nine were successfully rescued. This is a very inspirational tour as all of the miner's were rescued successfully.

The site gives a recount of the miner's experience and rescue efforts. There is a statue and the actual pipe used to shelter the miner's while being pulled to safety. In addition, a new visitor center is being built and will be open to the public shortly. Overall, we thought the site came up short on information but the drive there was interesting.
