| Poplar Grove Plantation |
| One of the oldest existing peanut plantations in North Carolina, Poplar Grove Plantation was in the same family for over 6 generations. The Foys originally purchased the land in 1795 and kept it until the mid 1970's. It preserves the homestead of a successful farming family, the outbuildings and crafts typical of an 1800s era working community. Tour the big house as well as a tenent farmer's cabin; Visit with artisans to learn about basket making and weaving; Enjoy a hayride around the property. Guides dress in period costumes and are very knowledgable about the house, it's founders, the way of life on a plantation in the 1800s and much more. |
