 | | Cathy U., Co-op Member | | This is one of the best hands-on, immersion field trips around. The kids even dress the part of a student in the 1800s. The teacher stays in character, and the kids participate in a real school day taking on the identity of a real student that attended that school back in the 1800s. My 2nd grade boy came home telling me about square roots. No lunch boxes. They actually had to pack a lunch as if they lived in that time period. During recess, they played with toys from that period. The schoolhouse is a real, historic, one-room schoolhouse which added to the experience. This is a great field trip to bring to life what it would have been like to live in the 1800s. |
