We were on a weekend trip to Solvang and my son needed to visit a CA mission site, so we took advantage of the opportunity to see Mission Santa Ines. I can't compare it to many other missions, but it was impressive to us. The size of the compound waa large and it is still used for church services today in that town. There were even a few local artisans set up outside when we were visiting. We like the attention that the tour paid to the contributions of the native tribe that was responsible for most of the building of the mission, the Chumash. The gardens were beautiful and I have to admit my son was fascinated by the graveyard and looking at the dates on the headstones... They even had a very nice "Mission Packet" for sale in the giftshop that gave my son all the written and pictorial material he needed to write his report. He is now finishing up a Lego model fo the mission!
