My children (11 and 9) and I have taken a few tours through the MIA and have enjoyed them tremendously. The staff is always quite knowledgeable and are very well prepared to point out interesting tidbits to the kids. We have also enjoyed days of just wandering around by ourselves to see what interesting things we can find.
