Miller Park Zoo

Description:

Reindeer and wolves and bears - oh my! Miller Park Zoo offers many exhibits and Zookeeper interaction opportunities that are enjoyed by the whole family. Some highlights include: sun bears, reindeer, Sumatran tiger, sea lions, river
otters, red pandas, lemurs, Galapagos tortoise, bald eagles, pallas cats, Amur leopard, gibbons, and red wolves. The Zoo features many large exhibits such as a Wallaby WalkAbout, ZooLab, Children's Zoo, Animals of Asia, and the Katthoefer animal building. The Zoo's newest exhibit is the Tropical America Rainforest. Guests will see an array of animals and plants whose species make their home in the rainforests of Central and South America. Throughout the relaxing stroll, on a winding path, over a bridge, beside a water fall, visitors are sure to be surprised by the mammals, reptiles, and beautiful free flying birds spotted along the way.

Miller Park Zoo is a great small zoo. Younger children will like the special kids' building with puzzles, games, dress-up clothes, and a variety of small animals and insects. The rain forest building is nicely done and would be great to visit after a unit on the rain forest. The zoo is nearly 100 years old, but it feels very up-to-date in most sections. The landscaping is beautiful. Kids like riding the carousel in the summer. The Zoo often has children's classes and has a Junior Zookeeper class for junior high kids and up. The store has a wide variety of prices and lots of animal related objects, including reindeer poop earrings that are popular throughout the U.S. Enjoy the zoo.
