| Mansfield Memorial Museum |
The museum is the oldest museum in Richland County founded in 1889. The museum is a stop back in time to the late 1800's. Artifacts on two floors of displays span from Roman to modern times. Native American, African, Asian, miliary, and natural history are well represented in the exhibits. The Memorial Building that houses the museum is an architectural wonder unchanged since the building opened in 1889. Don't miss ELEKTRO on display from September 14- December 31, 2006! A museum not to missed while in Mansfield.
Summer 2007 - Mansfield Nightlife And Entertainment - An exhibition of sight and sound of musical groups, theater and events from the early forming of Mansfield through the mid 1960's. This exhibit will not only have photos and memorabilia but original recordings of Mansfield musicians taken from original sources such as 78's, reel to reel and tape playing in a surround system throughout the exhibit. The recordings include bands and orchestras, live radio shows and performances from the mid 1930's to 1966. I am still looking for more photos, stories and original recordings to enhance the exhibit.
Admission is Free- but the museum does accept donations.
Week day appointments are available for groups of 20 or more, just call the museum for a reservation.
