| Liberty Hall Museum |
| Built on the eve of the Revolution, Liberty Hall is associated with many of the events and individuals that have shaped our nation's destiny. Home to the prominent Livingston and Kean families, the saga of Liberty Hall includes the stories of men, women and children from many lands and many eras, stories that are waiting to be discovered. A chronicle of New Jersey history, glimpsed through the doors of one very special house. Enter and the past comes alive. |

 | | Jill, Co-op Member | We have been to Liberty Hall Museum twice. We first went in December 2009 to see their Christmas tree display and again in December 2010 to see their Stitches in Time display. Stitches in Time will be on exhibit till May 2011.
I love this well kept secret in NJ! The house is filled with interesting artifacts from the Kean and Livingston families. There are so many stories to be told in each room. I can't imagine being a member of a family with so much history. The items are well preserved and all items on display are from the families. They were the original pack rats - they kept everything. As the house was handed from one descendant to the next, all of the household items (from colonial times to the present) were packed into storage. They once found a scrapbook from a young daughter that contained a letter from George Washington.
The Stitches in Time exhibit is very interesting if you are into antique clothing. Some of the pieces are borrowed from another museum but they do tell an interesting story.
The museum would be of particular interest to girls who love the American Girl dolls. Every historical American Girl doll could have lived in the house.
The staff is wonderful and very knowledgeable, everything is well maintained. I'd say allow 2 to 3 hours to see everything. |
