I really enjoy Lehigh Valley Zoo for my kids (7,4,1). I don't have to make the trip to philly and there are many interactive opportunities for a reasonable cost. Also, at a lot of fairs they give out free passes and admission coupons. Not only are there plenty of animal educational opportunities but there is a historical feel to a horse drawn wagon and "fording" the river that is close by. Definitely pack a lunch and play in the water on a hot day. This zoo is the perfect size for the ages of my kids and the time it takes to go through is just perfect to not lose their attention.

We took our kids ages 1,3, & 5 The zoo itself was fine. The animals are easy to see. It's very small so it's an easy in/out day trip. It was fun but I'm not sure we'd rush back anytime soon after having done it once.
