Facility:Last Mountain House Prov. Hist. Park
Description:Last Mountain House was constructed in 1869 by the Hudson's Bay Company for two reasons: competition was moving in, and the buffalo herds were moving southwest. Come see the reconstructed 1869 Hudson's Bay Company winter fur trade outpost. Marks the last days of fur trade in Southern Saskatchewan and when era of buffalo hunting & Red River carts gave way to homesteads & the railroad. A hike into the coulee illustrates the importance of the natural environment to the post's location.
