| Hudgens Children's Arts Museum |
| The Children's Arts Museum offers children and their families the excitement provided by the arts. Museum artwork is combined with a wide range of innovative activities which enhance and reinforce the visual experience. Six colorful kiosks, each with its own animal sculpture, represents different art disciplines. There is a kiosk for visual art, literary arts, drama, dance and music. Each kiosk offers interactive, hands-on art projects to teach children about that special form of art. In addition to the kiosks, two gigantic musical installations are in the Grand Hall. One is a keyboard like the one seen in the movie Big with Tom Hanks, the keys on this keyboard each play a note when children step on it. An 8' tall harp, which has strings that play chords when children pluck them, is a companion piece to the keyboard. There's something for every age, from a "do-it-yourself" puppet theater, to a magic kaleidoscope, to numerous art-related activities that teach art skills. These activities are in addition to the professional art exhibitions in the Children's Gallery and the student work displayed in the Rowe Promenade Gallery. |
