| Howe Caverns |
| Basic tour of caverns lasts 80 minutes and includes both formations and a short boat ride through the public areas of the cavern. Gemstone "mining" using sluice for extra fee. Close to Iroquois Indian Museum and other sites - makes for a nice day trip, longer if you add in other historic sites in the area. |

 | | Nancy R, Co-op Member | | Our family enjoyed visiting Howe Caverns on a Monday afternoon in the summer but we did not expect so many other visitors. Our group had at least 25; many other large groups were moving through the caverns simultaneously. There was a photo-op at one natural feature we declined, a corny bridal altar, and the boat ride at the mid-point was a bit disappointing. On the return you will be asked if you want to take the Winding Way or a shortcut - don't miss the Winding Way! Incredible. After the tour, our kids enjoyed choosing a small geode to have sliced open. Although we did not visit it, an alternative right nearby is Secret Caverns, which features a 100-foot waterfall. |
