| Summary: | ClickSchooling list member and veteran homeschool mom, Carol Henderson, owns this website that she designed to help other home educators find interesting and fun “real” books about history, outside of a textbook. As Carol explains at her website, “Books that will enhance the understanding of important eras, people, and events in a typical study of history are the focus of this list. Content that is realistic to the time period and that promotes positive life principles are also determining factors. Preference is given to books with a Judeo-Christian worldview.” | ||
| Description: | The site contains lists of book suggestions for the following historical eras: Ancient World Middle Ages A.D. 400-1000 and 1000-1400 Age of Discovery 1400-1000 and 1000-1700 1700 to Present World Wars America pre-1600 through 1900’s There are also resources for maps and timelines. Currently, when you visit the site, you will see a welcome message that explains the purpose of the site. There is a menu on the left that you can use to access booklists of different historical eras. Click on any era and a new page opens with a list of book titles by subject within that era. You can then print out the titles and try to find the books at your local library or bookstore — or you can enter the titles into the amazon.com search engine conveniently located on each page. Carol also has provided a form for planning your yearly history curriculum. Carol wants this to be an easy-to-use tool for other teaching moms, and welcomes your comments and suggestions to this work in progress. |
