| Facility: | Herkimer Diamond Mines |
| Description: | An above ground quartz crystal (Herkimer Diamonds) mine where you can prospect for the gems. They also have a museum with fossils and various crystals; some even glow under a blacklight. There is a wonderful homeschool program where the kids learn about dinosaurs and fossils, rocks and minerals, and get to prospect for Herkimer diamonds. The staff, especially the owner, are all very kind to the children. KOA camping available. |
