| Fort Osage National Historic Landmark and Education Center |
Built in 1808 under the direction of William Clark, Fort Osage was one of the first military outposts in the Louisiana Purchase. The fort doubled as a military garrison and a trade center. Authentically attired reinactors provide insight into the daily life of the fort.
The new Fort Osage Education Center is a state of the art facility where children will fully experience the historical significance of Fort Osage, as well as the importance of the Missouri River played in the location of the Fort. Fort Osage also has special holiday events and group field trip opportunities. |
