| Discovery Center at Murfree Spring |
The Discovery Center at Murfree Spring is a unique blend of children's museum and environmental center, with 15 permanent, indoor exhibit areas, 20 acres of wetland habitat
several associated outdoor exhibits, and even though the 18,000 square foot museum may seem huge, it retains a warm, inviting atmosphere.

 | | Erica S., Co-op Member | | Awesome Children's Museum at the right price...only $5 per person. Everything in the museum is interactive! The infant/toddler section of the museum was recently renovated with many engaging activities for babies. There's a whole soft, squishy room that just begs for little ones to play without getting hurt. There are activities and rooms for every type of learner. Our favorites include the art room, the dark room, the working trains, the grocery store, the kitchen, and the water fun. There is so much more, though! Two floors of learning fun! The kids just don't want to leave! But once outside, the fun doesn't stop. The trails outside are all free, as well as the playground. There is a wetlands area behind the museum. We love to try to spot various wildlife, as well as identify trees and flowers. You won't regret spending the day here, with or without going into the museum. |

 | | Angel F., Co-op Member | This is one of our favorite field trips because it is fun, educational and affordable. A family membership is only $75.00 per year and worth every penny.
This facility is a homeschooling haven --- an indoor mini-aquarium with TN aquatic wildlife, an art room, a shadow room, a giant two-story indoor slide, snakes, birds, and other small animals...and so much more to see and do. And don't forget about the wetlands --- see fish, ducks, maybe a beaver or a great blue heron too.
Other tips and advise:
* Pack a lunch and enjoy an outdoor picnic.
* Call ahead to see if there are any public school field trips on the day you are planning your visit.
* Visit during the time when public school is in session....you basically have the whole place to yourselves.
We live nearby and go at least once a week and the kids NEVER get tired of it...and neither do I. |
