| Description: | Covered Wagon Tours presents an authentic old west tour of the desert. This fun, educational and unusual tour is designed for all ages to view and explore the fascinating native desert located in the Palm Springs area. A team of mules draws the wagons which are equipped with padded seats, a covered top with open sides for easy viewing and rubber tires and springs for your comfort. As you journey across the isolated desert along the San Andreas earthquake fault an expert naturalist guide narrates and interprets the wildlife, ecology and prehistoric geology of the area. Along the meandering trail the covered wagon stops to allow for a close up look at plants and animal tracks. The trail also leads through a lush green palm oasis, which attracts animals and birds. Covered Wagon Tours offers a unique educational experience and a school field trip program. For school field trips they provide a two hour desert tour in a mule drawn covered wagon and on board naturalist guide. Classes are welcome to bring a sack lunch and enjoy the cowboy camp's facilities that include picnic tables and restrooms. They provide drinking water. Most schools schedule their tours to begin between 9:00 and 10:00AM, making wagons returning to camp in time for lunch. |
