Description:

The mission of Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is to improve the future for wildlife by exhibiting animals and plants and providing education and conservation programs which encourage respect and stewardship of the natural world and a better understanding of our place within it.

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, founded in 1892, is the seventh oldest zoo in the United States. Occupying 165 wooded acres, the recent acquisition of an adjacent 141 acres makes it one of the largest urban zoos. More than 3300 animals may be seen in modern, spacious settings and state-of-the-art exhibits.

Zoos are great for science studies, you just need to make sure you aren't afraid to ask the people that work there for help! They love to give it!

The zoo was partially under construction when we last visited as they were making room for some more awesome exhibits, but it was still a fantastic experience! The zoo is a great stop for a budding zoologist to get face to face with some of the worlds coolest animals.

While my daughters enjoyed everything about the zoo, their favorite part was the behind the scenes look at the veterinary clinic where the large and small animals receive care. The surgery rooms have a glass wall that faces the visitors area and lets you see what tools of the trade are available to the zoos on staff vets.

The staff at the zoo were knowledgeable and helpful. My 7 year old asks a lot of questions and everyone she spoke to took time to listen to her and answer her questions, no matter how off the wall they seemed!
