With 14 galleries of vibrant exhibits bursting with action-packed fun, the Children's Museum of Houston gives kids from birth to age 12 the ultimate discover and learn experience. There’s something new every day making each visit unique as children explore EcoStation, Think Tank, KID-TV, The Matter Factory, How Does It Work? and much more.

Tuesday through Saturday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Sunday: Noon - 5 p.m.
Monday: Open from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Mondays between Memorial Day and Labor Day, on most Federal Holidays and during HISD spring break. Closed all other days. Check the calendar for details.

Seniors (65+): $4
Children under two and Museum Members are FREE
*Reduced admission $3 after 3 p.m.

Free Family Nights are offered every Thursday from

Best for:
1) Exploring: learning on the go!
3) Science and Health: learning about science and health through exploration
3) Math: discovering math through special stations and many of the exhibits
4) Language arts: providing opportunities to read, discuss, explore, get material for lapbooks, journaling, essays
5) Geography: learning about countries, cultures as represented through exhibits

Peak age of enjoyment: 0-10 y.o. but older children, youth, adults and grandparents can really have fun

Pros: as much play as you can handle all laid out and ready to go, special interest stations and events, friendly staff, Houston Public Library branch in the museum, free family nights 5-8 p.m. Thursdays, lots of fun across broad range of ages, activities

Cons: it is pretty much always crowded, tough to keep track of children in Power Play area and there are unguarded exits in Power Play, Invention Convention and Cyberchase areas

Cautions: adult supervision important, paid parking only
