The Museum's exhibits cover Carbon County history. The museum celebrates Wyoming's first female Physician/Surgeon, Lillian Heath, as well as houses her extensive clothing collection from 1880 to 1940s. The museum is home to an original Wyoming State Flag, houses the story of the outlaw, Big Nose George Parrot, and is the only museum in Wyoming with an Edison Foundation collection.
Other items of interest in the museum's permanent collection include: Tom Horn's spurs and pistol; a 1623 Breeches Bible; a collection of original Carbon County Journal newspapers from 1879 tp 1914 and 1939; extensive archive and photograph collections; 16-ton decorative ca. 1880 Mosler and Bahmann Co. safe, and more.
The Museum contains photos, newspapers, files on various topics, manuscripts, justice dockets. There is a charge for copies. |
