 | | Rebecca P., Co-op Member | Butterfly world is a fantastic experience for the whole family. The moment you enter you are surrounded by dozens and dozens of different varieties of butterflies and moths. They literally surround you! And I'm not talking about a small place full of butterflies. Try to picture a very large walk through garden with fountains, floral plants and more butterflies than you have ever imagined in one place. You will also be able to spot a myriad of rare birds and enjoy a waterfall and pond with koi in the middle of the Tropical Rainforest Aviary. My children were completely enthralled by the experience of having butterflies fly up and rest on them. Butterfly world also houses a very interesting bug museum,an actual bug zoo, gardening center, and numerous specific types of gardens. They house one of the largest collections of flowering Passion Vines in the world! We absolutely loved the visit. I would suggest signing up for their email newsletter which announces special events. Newsletter subscribers also receive coupons for reduced admission. Because the admission is a little steep, I'd suggest arriving at opening and staying as late as your children are comfortable to get your money's worth. It would also be a good idea to pack an ice chest with lunch as the food inside is a bit pricey. There are nice places to sit and eat lunch outside as Butterfly world is inside Tradewinds Park.
My kids will tell you that the highlights of the trip were feeding the Lorikeets, having butterflies all around you, and bringing home some chrysalises from the gift shop. It was an amazing day. They aren't kidding when they say it is the largest butterfly sanctuary in the world. This was a memory to last a lifetime. |
