| Biosphere 2 |
Utilizing Biosphere 2 as its principal research venue, B2 Earthscience is taking advantage of the facility's unique spatial scale providing a bridge between small-scale, controlled, laboratory-based understandings of earth processes and experiments in field settings where it is difficult to control all environmental conditions. Biosphere 2's size allows B2 Earthscience to do controlled experimentation at an unprecedented scale, providing the missing link between the laboratory and the real world.
The B2 Earthscience research facilities is open to the public and visitors can see scientific research as it unfolds. When on a tour, visitors have the opportunity to see scientific inquiry in action and learn about the progress of individual experiments in real time. |

 | | L Harvey, Co-op Member | | My two teen girls learned a lot about climates and the plants in each type of climate. There were four different climates: marsh, rainforest, desert and savannah. Each produced oxygen differently and at different times, which gives the world oxygen constantly. My girls enjoyed learning things they didn't think they would enjoy learning. For people to live in the Biosphere, they had to have airshafts to keep the air moving. They learned the importance of the ocean. It was a very educational field trip. |
