Description:

Beauvoir House and the Jefferson Davis Presidential Library suffered heavy damage from Hurricane Katrina. These two structures can and will be restored given time and funding. A construction contract is for twelve months time with a completion date of March 13, 2008.

We visited Beauvoir March 2010. They are still rebuilding. They have a small store and museum set up and the house is open and has been completely restored. They are working on rebuilding the library and kitchen. The tour is very informative and short. The kids loved looking at the details of the house and doing the self guided tour outside. Some days you can even catch the alligator sunning himself!! The destruction from Hurricane Katrina was horrible and they have done a lot of work to bring this historic property back for the public to see. Thank you!
