| Bates Nut Farm |
| Experience a hands-on educational zoo based on the Bates family history and role in the agricultural community. Valley Center's oldest working farm provides groups of 15 or more a memorable experience. Learn about a variety of nuts. Acquire a knowledge of nut histories, how they are grown, harvested and their nutritional values. Smell the wonderful aroma of freshly roasted nuts as you tour through the roasting and packaging rooms. Enjoy a hayride around the farm and a little snack. Feed the goats, chicken, sheep and geese in the farm zoo. Have a picnic on the farm. Then shop at the Bates store filled with a variety of nuts, dried fruits and our new old fashioned candy counter filled with truffles, chocolate and fudge! During October there are even more field trip options to explore with hayrack rides and a straw maze! |

 | | K. Deven, Co-op Member | | Bates nut farm was a fun outing for my Kindergartener. She learned all about nuts and got to go on a tour of the farm. She also enjoyed feeding the goats. Bring a sack lunch and have a picnic while you are there. |

 | | Lorraine D., Co-op Member | | This was a great field trip. We went in the fall, so got to pick out pumpkins recently brought over from the patch, wander in a hay bale maze, ride a hay truck ride, and watch the farm animals. Very nice fall trip! |
