We have not only visited this museum a few times, we celebrated our son's fifth birthday there. All ages will gain from the very willing staff's extensive knowledge of young earth science, genetics, and history. The staff also offers classes (call or go to site for more information).
A guided tour is the best way to go, as you will gain much more information and background of the exhibits. The outdoor area is fun for all ages: obstacle course, zip-line ride, large slide (ride on sacks), swings and more. I've heard they are working on a putting course and it may be done, but check with the museum. Very family friendly and unique facility.
Plan on staying for 2 hours.

We took a trip to the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center. http://www.indianahistory.org/
What a wonderful surprise!
* History came alive with "You Are There". In this wonderful experience you and your kids literally step into a historical photograph and interact with with character from times past.
* In destination Indiana we saw short Movies about Indiana (you can specifically choose certain Movies for group field trips)and were able to take a virtual field trip through the state on their large touch screen computers. (You could spend hours on these computers, if you take a group field trip make sure you allow for enough time here!)
*Do you have questions about your Indiana History Curriculum or Indiana History in general? Historians will consult with you for free and bless you with wonderful resources. Elaine Rosa heads up the Jr. Historians - don't hesitate to ask for her she is alot of help!
* Do you have Indiana Geography Questions? In the History Library you can access historical maps (these can also be seen online)
* You can access Thousands of historical pictures maps and files on their website.
* Lesson plans that coincide with youth Historical fiction as well as other lessons can be accessed online.
* We went with 2nd-6th Graders. A large group of kids under 2nd grade would probably not enjoy it as much, but if you are going with your family, you can make the experience come alive easier for younger children.
* If you plan a group field trip (your co-op perhaps?) it is only $3 a person. If you are on food stamps or Hoosier Healthwise you can get and Access pass and get in for $1 (make sure to call to get details on obtaining Access Pass)
I highly Recommend making the trip!
