NASA has done it again! “Cool Cosmos” makes the science of infrared astronomy accessible to students of all ages through a variety of free educational activities, web-tutorials, lessons, videos, experiments and resources that explain the infrared as well as the multi-wavelength universe
Description:When you get to the website (which you can view in either flash or html), you'll see a menu of choices that includes:

*Cosmic Classroom - Find lessons and experiments to learn about heat transfer and detection along with infrared and multi-wavelength astronomy that are divided into grade levels K-4, 5-8, and 9-12. Students can perform versions of experiments in which famous astronomers made their greatest discoveries - for example, find out how Sir Frederick William Herschel discovered infrared light.

*Cosmic Kids - Get directions on how to build a model telescope out of paper. At the "Infrared Zoo" view animals with a thermal infrared camera to see the difference between warm and cold-blooded animals and discover how well feathers, fur and blubber insulate animals. Play fun online games. Learn about the Spitzer Space Telescope. "Ask an Astronmer" offers a Q&A about space, the solar system, planets, nebulas, galaxies and much more.

*Image & Video Galleries - Prepare to be dazzled by the spectacular images beamed to Earth from the Spitzer Space Telescope. Then check out amazing infrared images showing the heat radiated by objects around us. See what familiar objects look like when viewed through an infrared camera. Multimedia platforms and state of the art graphics and animations help explain astronomy. Don't miss the Yellow Stone Park images and videos of geothermal activity including geysers, warm springs, mud pocketss and more.

Cool Cosmos gives you the scoop on visible light, x-rays, ultraviolet light, and infrared light (that is totally invisible to the human eye). You'll discover, as the website explains, that "the universe sends us light at all wavelengths, with each portion of the spectrum bringing us unique information about the cosmos."

Enjoy!
