Summary:Observe and record snow data by making a snow journal and keep adding to it each year.
Description:If you live in the Midwest you quite likely have received a fair amount of snow. Wouldn’t it be neat to have a journal of the different snowfalls?

With this lesson plan your kiddos will learn to identify the different snowflake types while organizing information in a journal such as the date, air temperature and snowfall amounts. They will then decide if the air temperature contributes to the different types of crystals formed and if the different crystal types determine the weight of the snowfall.

I am excited about having my kids start these journals. My plan is to have them keep record of the snowfalls for the months of January and February this year and next. Then compare the two. If we can keep it up for a few years maybe they will spot different patterns.
