Resource:Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner with Gregory the Terrible Eater
Provider:The Educator's Reference Desk
Summary:A hands on nutrition lesson using Gregory the Terrible Eater by Mitchel Sharmat
Description:A lesson plan on proper nutrition. Using the book Gregory the Terrible Eater by Mitchel Sharmat, your K-2nd grader will learn about nutrition, the food pyramid and properly balanced meals. After making a model of Gregory the Goat, you will then look through magazines and cut out foods to make breakfast, lunch and supper to feed Gregory. The food and model can be kept in a gallon zip bag to be used for review.

This could easily be taken one step further by letting your child create and excute (with your help) a meal plan for a day complete with menu. I know my kids are much more apt to eat something if they have a hand in making it!
