Summary:This website is co-produced by PBS Nature and National Geographic. See Africa as never before!
Description:Younger children will want to jump directly to "Africa for Kids," where they can see photos taken by kids around Africa, make an animal mask and learn a traditional antelope dance, play a virtual thumb piano, or listen to a Swahili folk tale.
Older students will appreciate the more sophisticated sections of this site that include:

*Explore the Regions - Eight regions, two ways! You can take a flash-enabled "virtual tour" by clicking on various regions on a map and then selecting various aspects of each region, or you can forego the zooming capability and let all of the same content without the latest version of Flash. There is a lot here to explore!

*Africa Challenge - How well do you know African history and geography? Take a timed quiz to find out! Don't worry, if you don't get all of the answers correct, you can always take the quiz again to improve your score! [Note: Some questions and answers in this quiz assume evolution as a part of human history.]

*Photoscope - See photo essays of five topics pertinent to modern Africa: AIDS, the environment, urban issues, conflict, and women. Each article has a link at the bottom in case you would like to email it to your friends!

Teachers will appreciate the link to "Teacher Tools" which can be found at the bottom of the "Africa for Kids" pages and also in the menu to the left of the main Africa pages. Here you will find lesson plans for grades 3-12, and also a teacher's guide to help you incorporate the video series into your teaching. The guide also has recommended websites and books for learning extension.
