Click on any one and a new page opens with an explanation of what you will find in that section, along with instructions and a linked index for accessing activities and/or materials to learn or practice math skills. The content here is amazing. You could easily spend weeks exploring it. And while much of what is offered are really math lessons, they are presented in a way that engages learning with photographs, illustrations, and interesting text. For example, here is the introduction to Algebra from the website:
"In a way it is like a game where you get somewhere by running, jumping or finding secret doors, but with Algebra you play with letters, numbers and symbols. And once you learn some of the 'tricks', it becomes a fun challenge to work out how to use your skills in solving each 'puzzle'."
After reading that description, what kid wouldn't be curious enough to give Algebra a try?
If you look at the menu on the far left side of the screen, you'll see the same topics from the picture-menu divided into sections that ease utilization. Look under the title "Other Bits" to find the "Subject Index." Click on that, and a new page opens listing the offerings by grade range from PreK-2, 3-6, 7-9, and 10 and up.
Below the main picture-menu on the landing page, you'll find some featured math activities, along with a "Teacher's Page" that provides suggestions for inspiring math students in traditional classrooms that can be tweaked to use in the homeschool environment. There are lots of interactive puzzles, games, and demonstrations here that will enhance any math curriculum, passion, remediation, or curiosity. |
