There is an area to sit and read magazines or articles about the subject matter. There is also an Art museum with some permanent display and some that change on a regular basis. There is a very small gift shop at the entrance. There is also a picnic area but no food is sold on the premises. |
Apple Annie's Orchard -- 2081 W Hardy Rd, Wilcox, AZ This is our traditional apples-only field trip with a lesson on seasons in the orchard, pollination, pest control, water-use and harvest, followed by a wagon ride to the orchard for apple picking. Each participant will take home a peck of apples, an orchard coloring book and a free child's pass to our corn maze. Picnic tables in our shaded orchard are available for your picnic lunch. Please allow 1 hour for the field trip and 30 minutes to 1 hour for lunch, restroom needs and shopping. Apple Annie's Attic Gift Shop, Country Bakery and Fudge Kitchen are open during field trips. |

Biosphere 2's size allows B2 Earthscience to do controlled experimentation at an unprecedented scale, providing the missing link between the laboratory and the real world.

Copper Queen Mine -- 118 Arizona Street, Bisbee, AZ One of the greatest copper mines ever known, the Copper Queen Mine was in production for almost 100 years before it closed in 1975. The underground tour takes you 1500 ft into the mine and discusses the history of mining.
It is very cool down in the mine so dress warm. Tours fill up so reservations are helpful and can be made on their website. There is a gift shop with many interesting rocks and minerals at reasonable prices.

Coronado National Monument -- 4101 East Montezuma Canyon Road, Hereford, AZ This memorial is part of The National Parks Service. Activites include Auto Touring, Bird Watching, Caving, Hiking, picnicking, Horseback Riding, Nature Walks, and Wildlife Viewing. There is a visitors center with information about Coronado's expedition. The website has curriculums helps and both a teachers guide and student workbook.
Children can become Junior Rangers by learning about the memorial and Coronado and filling in a workbook. They receive a special patch. Cubscouts can also earn a special patch but must wear uniform shirt. |
Deer Valley Rock Art Center -- 3711 W. Deer Valley Rd., Phoenix, AZ View more than 1500 ancient petroglyphs in a protected desert preserve. Indoor exhibits and video interpret the petroglyphs from different points of view. Group tours. Gift shop.

International Wildlife Museum -- 4800 W Gates Pass Road, Tucson, AZ The International Wildlife Museum is dedicated to increasing knowledge and appreciation of the diverse wildlife of the world as well as explaining the role of wildlife management in conservation.
Founded in 1988, the museum highlights over 400 species of insects, mammals and birds from around the globe. Some of the collections are more than 100 years old and all the animals found at the museum were donated by various government agencies, wildlife rehabilitation centers, captive breeding programs, zoos and individuals.

Kartchner Caverns State Park -- 2980 S. Hwy 90, Benson, AZ Experience a stunning limestone cave in Southeastern Arizona that boasts world-class features. This "live" cave, discovered in 1974, is host to a wide variety of unique minerals and formations. Water percolates from the surface and calcite formations continue to grow, including stalactites dripping down like icicles and giant stalagmites reaching up from the ground. Tour guides will unveil this fascinating underground landscape during a memorable 1˝ hour tour.

Muheim Heritage House -- 207 Youngblood Hill, Bisbee, AZ The Muheim Heritage House Museum, a Registered National Historic site, was built by Joseph and Carmelita Muheim beginning in 1898. The first four rooms were completed in 1902. As the family grew, six more rooms were added. The house was completed in 1915. Bisbee is a great little Victorian town, and it makes San Francisco look flat. |

The Peanut Patch -- 4322 E County 13th Street, Yuma, AZ The Peanut Patch founded by homesteaders, Gerry and Franny Didier after WWII in the 1950s. In 1977, Gerry and Franny opened The Peanut Patch store to the public. The store changed hands after Gerry passed away. The current owners, the George family, take the same pride in their work as the original homesteaders, the Didier family.
The Peanut Patch offers free tours of their facilities. Guests will learn all about peanuts including how they are grown, how they are harvested, and how they get turned into some of our favorite treats such as peanut butter. Guests will also get to sample some of the delicious goodies from the store. |

Phoenix Zoo -- 455 N Galvin Pkwy, Phoenix, AZ With 125 acres of land including exhibit, non-exhibit and operations areas and approximately 1,200 animals on exhibit including collections of mammals, fish, invertebrates, birds, and reptiles, the Phoenix Zoo is a must-see!
There are approximately 2.5 miles of walking trails. The Zoo has been divided into four different trails; usually the Africa and Tropics Trails take about an hour each and the Arizona and Children's Trails take about a half hour each. They recommend approximately 2 and a half to 3 hours to see the Zoo, depending on the size and ages of your group, and how fast you walk. Because they create exhibits that replicate the natural habitats of their collection, some animals can be difficult to see and visitors may be required to spend more time in observation.
