| James Whitcomb Riley was one of America's most popular poets when Indiana was the population center of America in the last half of the 1800s. Little Orphan Annie may be his best known poem. Riley's Indianapolis home in Lockerbie Square, where he lived at the height of his fame. Beautiful Italianate home contains many of his possessions from the time of his death. At Riley's death his bequest was used to start the Riley Hospital for Children, one of the top children's hospitals in the country. |
