| Grasslands is the first national park of Canada to preserve a portion of the mixed prairie grasslands. Eavesdrop on a prairie dog town or learn about how Sitting Bull took refuge here after the battle of the Little Bighorn in 1876. Guided hikes, interpretive trails, bird watching, and nature photography are popular activities in Grasslands. |

The Visitor Reception Centre in Val Marie is open daily from the Victoria Day long weekend in mid-May to the first weekend in September (Labour Day), 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
September long weekend - October 31st; Monday to Friday, 8 - noon, 1:00 -4:30 pm
During the remainder of the year, the Centre is open weekdays from November 1st - March 31st,
8 - noon, 1:00 -4:30 pm and closed during holidays. Limited openings - please phone ahead.
The park itself is always open. |
