| Description: | Two vast and spectacular hotels, located just one mile apart in southern Indiana, epitomize the grandest of the grand hotels of the early twentieth century. Built in 1901, the French Lick Resort operated continuously until it was closed for restoration in November 2005. Reopened in November 2006, the landmark's top-to-bottom restoration uncovered 900 long hidden mini-lights in the decorative moldings of the lobby. Now sparkling once again, they highlight more tan 5000 square feet of gold leaf. Historic Landmarks' 70-minute guided tour takes you from basement to upper floors and narrates the resort’s fascinating century-spanning history. |
