Chung Hyo Ye , Tales of filial devotion, loyalty, respect and benevolence from
the history and folklore of Korea . Throughout the five thousand years of Korean
history, Chung (Loyalty to Country and People), Hyo (Filial Devotion), Wu-ae
(Fraternal Love) and Ye (A Virtuous Way of Life) have been the core values of
Korea. Such values stem from the philosophy of Hongik Ingan, which means
one should “live and act for the benefit of all mankind.” This book is a collection
of stories about these values , many of which are taken directly from historical
records and some classic folktales.
