They must be majoring in or taking courses that would be beneficial to a career in the plastics industry. This would include, but is not limited to, plastics engineering, polymer science, chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, and industrial engineering.
Plastics Pioneers Association Scholarships **NEW**
The Plastics Pioneers Association (PPA) is an organization of individuals who are persons of accomplishment in the plastics industry and who wish to foster the bonds of friendship and fraternalism among them.
The objectives of the organization are to recognize achievements in the fields of plastics and / or polymer science, engineering, technology, education, sales / marketing or management; to support industry-wide educational programs and to promote the study and improvement of plastics and / or polymer science, engineering and technology in the plastics industry.
One key way these objectives are achieved is through the Plastics Pioneers Education Fund, which supports scholarships to worthy students. This year, the Plastics Pioneers Association selected The SPE Foundation as the administrator of their scholarship program.
PPA Scholarships
Ten $3,000 scholarships are available to students who are committed to becoming "hands-on" worked in the plastics industry - students who are dedicated to careers in plastics as technicians or engineers.
Applicants must be undergraduate students in either a 4-year college or a 2-year technical program.
Fields of study include plastics engineering, plastics technology, polymer science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, packaging, manufacturing support, mold making, mold design, product design, etc.

| Society of Plastics Engineers |
The objective of the Society is
" ...to promote the scientific and engineering knowledge relating to plastics."
Every day the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) helps people and companies in the plastics industry succeed. How? By spreading knowledge , strengthening skills and promoting plastics. SPE is the only place where people from all parts of the industry can come together around important issues and technologies. SPEs contribution to the plastics industry for over 60 years has made a significant difference to the technologies and innovations the industry enjoys today. In the process, we've developed a 20,000-member network of leading engineers, scientists and other plastics professionals, including technicians, salespeople, marketers, retailers and representatives from tertiary industries.
