Contest / ScholarshipCommon Knowledge Scholarship Foundation: Monthly High School Internet Challenge
Type:Academic Excellence
Description:The Program
Open to every high school student in the United States, this is a monthly online quiz tournament that tests students' academic and common knowledge. Students automatically become part of their school's team when they register with CKSF. Teams compete each month to represent their state at the national level and earn a spot in the April Grand National Championship.
Registration
A school is automatically registered when any student from that school registers with the CKSF (Most schools in the U.S. are already registered). Each student registers individually at www.cksf.org. Once registered with the Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation, each student is also eligible for all other CKSF scholarships throughout the year.
Eligibility
Every student at every high school in the United States is eligible to participate. There is no limit to the number of students each team can have and no one can ever be cut from a team. A student stays active as a team member by simply logging in and taking each quiz.
The Tournament
Students / teams compete at the State Level by taking a 15-question quiz during each of the first two weeks of the month. The school from each state with the highest Team Score after week two will advance to represent their state at the National Level during week four. The winning team will receive a trophy for their school and be eligible to compete in the CKSF Grand National Challenge in April.
Each month, the schedule for the competition is as follows:
Weeks 1 & 2 (state level) students take quizzes and compete against other schools in their state.
Week 3 CKSF announces state winners .
Week 4 the winning school from each state competes in the National Challenge.
The contest starts over each month from September to March.
In April, the monthly winners compete for the Grand National Championship Trophy.
A cash scholarship is awarded to the high scoring individual student at the National Level. The individual winner does not have to be from the winning school
The contest begins over during the first full week of the next month where all schools, including the previous winners, are once again eligible to participate.

Team Scores
Each school's team score is the sum of the top ten scores for each contest. The maximum possible team score for the state level is 150,000 points, and is 75,000 points at the national level.
