We have been homeschooling for 6 years, but had never been able to stick with an art curriculum. Curriculums we've tried in the past required too much (precious) time per week, too much prep work on my part, or were not adaptable to being used with multiple ages... Three weeks into Atelier, we are LOVING our experience with this program. What I like best about it:
1. I picked one level (with the help of Atelier's chart located on their website), and it is working for all of my children.
2. It requires almost no prep work on my part. I skim over the lesson in the instructor's manual. Then I simply make sure I have the needed supplies and set things up as shown in the manual/video.
3. We have been able to complete each lesson in under an hour, but my kids have been pleasantly surprised at what they can accomplish in that amount of time. They have enjoyed each of the three lessons we've completed so far.
4. As an artistically-challenged individual, I can honestly say I've enjoyed completing each of the art lessons right along with my children.

We plan to continue with Atelier in future years, and I hope the program will be offered on Homeschool Buyers Co-Op again.”

We Love Atelier. I wish I had this program for my sons when they were young and still homeschooling, they are both in college now. We never had a formal art program, and this one seemed great. It was a bit pricey, but well worth it. Especially when the final cost was the full 40% off. My daughter loves it. She is creative on her own, this program teaches art skills with a strong emphasis on the students own abilities. I chose level 5 for my 11 year old daughter. Its a perfect fit. We will definitely get the next level next year.”

We are really enjoying Atelier's Art program. My children (ages 2-12) keep asking for the next lesson. We're currently working on Level 2. It is a bit below my oldests childs abilities but she is easily able to make the project more complex and is enjoying learning the concept introduced and practising the ideas. My 2 year old is just 'along for the ride' and gets to use whatever supplies we're using and creates her own masterpiece.

This is the first art program I've bought. I've been looking for a long time but was just not finding what I thought an art program should be. Atelier has filled that gap very well. I've always enjoyed art and I had a very high standard. That said, I would recommend this program to anyone who is not "artsy". I find the videos very well done and will definatly be buying more levels as we progress.”

We had been eagerly awaiting the atelier curriculum when the mailman rang the bell on a saturday morning. The children (ages 7,5,3) knew that the art dvds were here. They opened the box and wanted to watch the first one right away. I set out the paper, markers and paint and they began working on the first project. After the first one they begged to go on the second and third lessons. This is a great program and very kid and parent friendly. Even our 3 yr old was getting it and needed minimal help. Even though we have not started our new school year, we have used Atelier as a form of entertainment especially on the hot afternoons. I shared Level one with a friend and her kids are loving it too. This was definately a God-sent program because the Co-op deal came right as I was praying for God's leading on what to do about art, which we hardly studied. I bought the #5 one for my 8 and 9 year old. They LOVED it. I loved it because it was a lot of hands off. They could watch the videos on their own. I could set up the table and materials (nothing too specialized, markers, paint - standard fair) and they were off and "arting" on their own. My daughter did the Cats Contour first and I was really surprised to see how well her project turned out. She stayed up until about 2 in the morning working on her art project (quietly in her room). SUPER PRODUCT. And I met one of the team from Atelier at the 2012 Homeschool Conference in Long Beach. They are the real deal and the products are super values - especially at Co-op prices. I highly recommend this company and their products - the DVD series.”

Because of the DVD format, they often will pause and even rewind and repeat an instruction if they've spent a bit longer on one area of their art project. I had been interested in Atelier for quite awhile, but the price had always been out of my reach. Thanks to Homeschool Buyers Co-op I was able to buy one level (for now) of this much desired program.

I was quite excited to set it up so my eldest daughter could have some new art experiences. To my surprise, my three year old sat down and asked for supplies as well. So I let her have some art fun too!

Both girls absolutely adore art time and come running when they hear the music playing at the beginning of the DVD. They love to create their own versions of whatever the lessons are and I am quite impressed with even my three year olds renderings.

We will most certainly be using the program over and over and hopefully be buying more levels as they become affordable. We have shared our program with friends and have already suggested Atelier to our homeschool co-op for group use.”

I thought teaching my children art would be a breeze since I have an art degree. But my oldest was putting a lot of pressure on herself to make something perfect. Atelier has taken off the pressure. The videos have excellent instruction with clear directions. Viewing other children's artwork is the most helpful. We can see how art can look so different even with the same instruction and that is what makes it wonderful. Your art creation is your art creation and there is no perfect answer. We will be continuing to use Atelier for a long time to come.”

This homeschool product was easy to use and very comprehensive. It covered art but is broken into sections with lesson plans, objectives, and assessments. You can use all or just do the projects. The DVDs were very well made and gave examples of other children while they were working on the art project. We watched the video all the way thru first to get the idea and to "borrow" ideas. I highly recommend this product.”

I have been using this program once a week for a 2 hr session with my 2 boys for about 4 months. One is a high school freshman and one is jr. high. The actors in the DVD are a little out-dated and younger than my students, but the activities and concepts have been fun and useful. Even though my oldest says he "does not like art," he has stuck with every project through completion without prodding. I like the combination of the book and DVD for flexibility and can pause the DVD during lessons to emphasize certain concepts or complete projects at our own pace.”

Atelier art program was a wonderful introduction to some really fun projects for my girls (ages 4 and 6). We invited two other families to join ours and held art every other Friday throughout the year, culminating in an Art Show. The lessons are simple, but engaging. My girls have loved the experience, and it has been easy for me to prepare for (I watch the videos, but do the teaching myself, but it would be fine to have the kids watch the video on their own too).

Not having had any formal training in art, I found Atelier DVD-based art instruction just what I needed to be able to joyfully explore the different media covered with my children. We were able to easily pull together an informal art co-op for two different levels during the summer with four other families, and everyone appreciated the experience. Atelier is by far the best art curriculum out there! My husband loves to use the DVD's to teach our 5 children and we both participate with them. We consider Atelier a "family" curriculum. This is definitely not a 'use it once and you're done' program. We use these lessons year after year and our children love to look back at what last year's picture looked like! It's a great way for them to see their own progression and abilities! As parents, we're just tickled to take our kids to the Smithsonian and hear them idenitfy artists and talk about their work using what they've learned through Atelier! Some people are concerned with the cost of this curriculum, BUT, even before the Co-op offered Atelier, it was very cost-effective when you break it down. All 7 of us use the lessons. At today's cost that's about $22 per LEVEL. Each level contains 3 modules, 18 lessons, and assessments. For us, that's $1.23 per person, per lesson... AND HOMESCHOOL BUYERS CO-OP PRICES ARE LESS THAN THAT!!! (Just for kicks, I figured it out for a family of 4 too- for you it's $2.15/lesson before the co-op discount.) Whether you are a professional artist and teacher, and especially if you are not, the Atelier Homeschool Art Curriculum will effectively teach your children not only to appreciate art, but to be artists themselves! I look forward to buying more advanced levels each year as our children grow.”

I LOVE the Atelier Art program. I have used levels one and two with my three children ages 10, 7, and 4. Though the children on the video are younger than my two oldest, the projects can be completed by any age. The projects always come out great and the instruction is easy to follow. The teachers manual provides a comprehensive list of supplies so I can purchase everything at the beginning of the year and then we pretty much watch and go. My kids will continue to do the projects over and over again (though they may use different mediums, I.e. the original project was paint or oil pastels, they'll do the project again with crayons on their own). Though pricey, it is well worth it. Art lessons are expensive, it is like having your own private art teacher at home. I expect/ hope to eventually complete all levels of this wonderful program. And Homeschool Buyers Coop has the best price I've found on this program, I' ve ordered the next two levels.”
