Ancient Echoes Interpretive Center --

Ancient Echoes Interpretive Center has indoor exhibits and outside guided hikes that reflect the native history, paleontology, ecology and geology of the area. Natural history displays enhance these displays. They have a library for research and videos of the ravine hikes and other information. Batoche National Historic Site of Canada --

Batoche displays the remains of the village of Batoche on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River. It was the last battlefield in the Northwest Rebellion of 1885. Louis Riel selected Batoche as the headquarters of his "Provisional Government of Saskatchewan". Several buildings have been restored within the site. The site depicts the lifestyles of the Metis of Batoche between 1860 and 1900 - the trails they walked, their homes, their church, and the Battle of Batoche, May 9-12, 1885. Visitors can also see an award-winning half-hour multi-media show in the Visitor Reception Centre.

Canadian Crop Circle Research Museum --

Witness the valiant effort of English settlers to create a Victorian society on the prairies before the first major wave of western immigration in the late 1890s. Period, original and reconstructed buildings and artifacts allow costumed staff to bring the history of Cannington Manor to life through interpretative programs and period demonstrations. At the village site, the Visitor Centre houses displays that introduce you to the people of Cannington Manor. Several buildings along the street are furnished as they would have been providing a glimpse of what life would have been like. Picnic facilities are provided at the village site.

Claybank Brick Plant Historical Society --
Box 4, Briercrest, SK
Nestled in the Dirt Hills, Claybank Brick Plant utilized the natural resources of the region to manufacture clay into brick for three quarters of a century. A national and international supplier of brick, the plant produced the unique T-P Moka face brick that was used in structures all across the prairies and landmarks such as Quebec City's Chateau Frontenac. Firebrick, which lined the fireboxes of CN and CP Rail line locomotives and Corvette warships in WW II, was also produced here. Largely industrial in character, this site offers impressive architecture and social history. Wander through the surrounding hills to explore the clay pits or tour this remarkable industrial complex that still houses much of the original equipment and buildings from 1912 to 1937. Located on Highway #339, Claybank Brick Plant NHS is only an hour from Regina or 45 minutes from Moose Jaw.

Elbow Museum --

The Elbow Museum is situated on Saskatchewan Street. In the early 1900's wood was so scarce on the prairies that many homesteaders built their first homes out of the sod. In 1965 the first replica of an authentic sod house was constructed as part of the celebrations for Saskatchewan's 60th anniversary as a province. In the summer of 2000 the house was rebuilt from native prairie sod, and furnished with period pieces. Operated as part of the museum, the "Sod Shack" is a symbol of the past, giving visitors a glimpse of how thousands of settlers lived when they homesteaded to the Canadian prairies in the early 1900's.

Fort Battleford National Historic Site --

Fort Battleford showcases the role of the North West Mounted Police in the Canadian West. The fort was established in 1876 and abandoned in 1924. It offers five original buildings, four with period furniture. The stockades and bastions are reconstructed, and the barracks has an interpretive display.
Fort Walsh National Historic Site --

Established in 1875 Fort Walsh would quickly become the most important, largest and most heavily armed fort the North West Mounted Police garrisoned during their early years in the West. In their time at Fort Walsh the mounties would chase whiskey traders and horse thieves; counsel and control desperate Native peoples dispirited by the disappearance of the buffalo, and supervise the thousands of Lakota refugees whose influx from the United States during the Great Sioux War of 1876-1877 would stretch their resources, and the fragile resources of the Canadian prairies, to the point of crisis. The story of Fort Walsh is one of fascinating detail and larger-than-life characters. Jerry Potts; Sitting Bull; James Walsh; Big Bear; James Macleod; Alfred Terry; White Bird; Little Pine; Sam Steele; Spotted Eagle; Rain-in-the-Face; Gall; Nelson Miles; Chief Joseph; Lief Crozier; John A. Macdonald; George Armstrong Custer; all these and more are part of the story of Fort Walsh.

The Gordon Snelgrove Gallery is managed through the Department of Art and Art History. The Gallery supports program and course instruction, student directed activity, community extension development, and art history and art education programs offered through the Department. The multi-purpose exhibition facility provides space for graduating exhibitions (M.F.A. and B.F.A.), student group shows, individual student projects, and special exhibitions including artists, curators, educators and partnering arts organizations within the wider professional community. In addition, the Gallery is responsible for the acquisition, care, documentation and exhibition of works held in the Gordon Snelgrove Gallery Collection. These are donated works acquired from M.F.A. and eligible B.F.A. graduating shows. The Gallery maintains its own web site which features an accumulative record of presentation activity, primarily graduating exhibitions.
Grasslands National Park of Canada --

Grasslands is the first national park of Canada to preserve a portion of the mixed prairie grasslands. Eavesdrop on a prairie dog town or learn about how Sitting Bull took refuge here after the battle of the Little Bighorn in 1876. The Herbert CPR Train Station Museum is housed in the original train station in Herbert and includes many CPR artifacts, a CPR caboose, snowplow and boxcar. The train station displays a large model train set in the original freight shed with a mountains to prairies landscape on the display. A second building houses many local artifacts indicating community memories. The Museum is also the local tourist stop in Herbert during the summer months and a traditional lunch "Faspa" is served throughout the summer.
Humboldt and District Museum and Gallery --

Human and natural history museum housed in 1912 former Post Office building. Three floors of exhibits relecting the history of Humboldt and district beginning with a replica of the original Humboldt Telegraph Station (1878) which led to the settlement primarily of German, Roman Catholic people, and St. Peter's Abbey and Colony which is still unique in the world today.
Kinistino & District Pioneer Museum --

The Kinistino district is one of the oldest settled districts in Saskatchewan. The town of Kinistino is about 20 miles from the Saskatchewan River and was in an excellent position to take advantage of the fur trade as well as the exploration of the west. Because of this, settlement around Kinistino began in the 1880's. At the time, the settlement was named the Carrot River settlement, and later changed its name to Carrot River. The Kinistino Museum was opened on June 29, 1971, housed in a converted two room school house that the community had moved into the area. Originally the school house was named Pine Bluff and after renovations to the house such as an alarm system, the museum was opened to the public. Included among the artifacts are primitive iron tools, wooden dash churns, foot warmers for the long winter sleigh rides as well as a variety of other historical memorabilia.

Last Mountain House was constructed in 1869 by the Hudson's Bay Company for two reasons: competition was moving in, and the buffalo herds were moving southwest. Come see the reconstructed 1869 Hudson's Bay Company winter fur trade outpost. Marks the last days of fur trade in Southern Saskatchewan and when era of buffalo hunting & Red River carts gave way to homesteads & the railroad. A hike into the coulee illustrates the importance of the natural environment to the post's location.

The Melfort and District Museum --

The Melfort and District Museum features an extensive collection of farm machinery, equipment and tools that were used in the development of the agriculture industry in Saskatchewan's parkland. The one-room country school brings back memories for all those who attended these schools on the prairies. The general store is filled with dry goods, hardware, tools and groceries. This building also includes the Busy Bee Cafe, a doctor's office and dentist office. Other furnished buildings include the South Melfort Post Office, a land titles office, barber shop and blacksmith shop. The Exhibit Hall features a transportation display along with agriculture tools, industrial and commercial displays. The Power House features a gallery of ever-changing displays. Enjoy your lunch at our picnic area within the grounds. The Bennet house is a two-story log house with furnishings from the early 1900's, showing the lifestyle of our first settlers.The house is part of an extensive collection of early buildings and artifacts depicting Saskatchewan's development.

Moose Mountain Provincial Park has been a popular getaway for more than 70 years – it's one of Saskatchewan's original provincial parks. Pitch a tent in a cozy nook, park the camper trailer in a lovely, level spot, slip that big RV unit into a fully-serviced site or rent a cabin or hotel room right inside the park. Potable water, clean washrooms and a hot morning shower are always close at hand. Firewood is, too. Bask in that warm golden glow of the evening campfire and ponder the important things, like alternate ingredients for s'mores. Part of the Qu'Appelle Valley - 40,000 hectares located on the highest plateau in the southeast. Popular Kenosee Lake is the part of the park.

On August 31, 1974, the museum officially opened. The museum now takes up the entire top floor of the school and is filled with interesting artifacts and memorabilia from Naicam and surrounding areas. Nipawin Living Forestry Museum --

The Nipawin and District Forestry Museum has been collecting and preserving the history of Nipawin and area since 1967. It has numerous displays including household artifacts, vintage vehicles, fully-functional steam-powered saw and shingle mills, functional vintage tractors, restored historic houses, and much more. The museum also hosts annual Canada Day celebrations held on July 1st with activities including live music, demonstrations, and bread made from authentic clay ovens.
Outlook & District Heritage Museum --

The Outlook & District Heritage Museum is a must see. Located in a former railroad station, stepping into the aged CPR terminal is like stepping back in history. The museum took over the old CPR station in 1992 and was officially opened on June 5th, 1993. The station was built in 1909, less than a year after the settlement of the town. It is filled with numerous interesting artifacts and photographs and there's always someone available to give the story behind each one. The Museum has over 3000 items and most of them are directly linked to someone who lived in Outlook or the surrounding area. Some highlights are a caboose, an old NWMP holding cell, and a large collection of arrowheads. You will also find the architects model of the Gardiner Dam!
Prince Albert National Park --

Prince Albert National Park protects a slice of the 'boreal' forest. It is also a meeting place or transition zone between the parkland and the northern forest. The park features many outstanding natural wonders and cultural treasures, including the only fully protected white pelican nesting colony in Canada, the isolated, lakeside cabin of conservationist Grey Owl and a free-ranging herd of plains bison. During a visit, enjoy special events and interpretive programs that help you make more connections with the patterns and processes of this ecosystem. The townsite of Waskesiu, located in the park, provides extensive services for visitors.

Established in 1898 by Seager Wheeler, Maple Grove Farm illustrates the realities of prairie agriculture and the evolution of the industry. Persevering through the dust of the Dirty Thirties, Seager Wheeler successfully demonstrated that by using selective breeding and soil conservation techniques agriculture could work on the prairies. Crowned World Wheat King five times between 1911 and 1918, Seager Wheeler had a tremendous impact on the development of western agriculture and the marketability of the west. Walk around the farmstead and explore an orchard, extensive flower gardens, shelter belts, remnants of Wheeler's seed plots and many original buildings. Visit the century-old interpretive centre and enjoy a light lunch in the tea room. The site is owned and operated by the Seager Wheeler Farm Historical Society and is located 7 km east of Rosthern on Highway #312 near Batoche National Historic Site.

(i.e. school room, kitchen, living room, bedroom, etc.) The barbershop features a hand sculpted, life-size figure of former barber Jimmy Hales. The diverse talents of our pioneers are clearly depicted - see the locally crafted steam engine as an example.
Ukrainian Museum of Canada --

The Ukrainian Museum of Canada of the Ukrainian Women's Association of Canada was founded in 1936 in Saskatoon. It was established as Canada's first Ukrainian museum and serves as a center dedicated to the advancement of and knowledge and preservation of Ukrainian heritage in Canada. It is the headquarters museum for a national network of branch museums, which were established in Toronto (1944), Edmonton (1944), Winnipeg (1950) and Vancouver (1957). An associated Calgary Collection was established in the 1970's. The museum has been actively involved in promoting ethnographic, visual and performing arts and history locally, provincially and nationally. From modest beginnings, together with strong community support, the Ukrainian Museum of Canada is one of Canada’s finest cultural institutions.
