The dynamic, soaring structure will be built adjacent to the existing museum, a post office building dating back to 1899, effectively incorporating the new into the old. The project will increase gallery space from 8,000 square feet to approximately 21,000 square feet, allowing greater display of the museum’s important paintings and sculpture from the permanent collection as well as selections from its distinguished photography holdings. The expansion also provides a number of exciting amenities long requested by museum visitors such as classrooms, a childrens gallery, museum gift shop and café.

Beaver Creek State Park is nestled in the sandstone hills of eastern Ohio. The Betts House was built in 1804 by William and Phebe Stevens Betts as their home on their 111-acre brick manufactory & farm. In 1994, The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the State of Ohio accepted the house as a gift & agreed to oversee a Research Center whose mission is "the interpretation of the history of Cincinnati from 1800 - present through the study of the evolution of building in materials and traditions in this area." The Research Center creates and presents annual temporary exhibits which have included early bricks and brick making, decorative iron fencing, fireplaces & stoves in 19th century homes, and an extensive 1864 remodeling.

The Palace still has its original cloud machine that makes the clouds continuously march across the sky. The 1960s and 1970s brought about a period of neglect and decay to Canton’s downtown area. But after an association was formed and restoration was done, the majestic Palace Theatre is once again the heartbeat of the Canton community and plays host to over 300 events per year that has an attendance of over 100,000 per year.

The Educational Memorabilia Center, operated by the College of Education and Human Development at Bowling Green State University, is a collection of items reminiscent of education's past. The collection includes more than 2,500 items such as slates, bells, desks, inkwells, antique equipment and books. Books include the famous McGuffey readers as well as arithmetic, history, geography, hygiene, manual training, domestic science, school management, and pedagogy. The most valuable item in the collection is an authentic one-room schoolhouse, a century-old building that was moved to BGSU from Huron County. The schoolhouse is furnished with many items from the Center's collection to give it much the same appearance that it had when it was in active use.

The Follett House Museum has an extensive collection of archival materials chronicling the Sandusky and Erie County region. It includes several artifacts from the Underground Railroad. The museum is a branch of the Sandusky Library. The 1827 mansion was built by Oran Follett in Greek-Revival style. Follett was a businessman and one of the founders of the Republican Party. The museum’s Civil War collection includes items from the Confederate officers’ prison on Johnson Island. Other fine artifacts in the museum’s possession are diaries, letters, drawings and photographs from the Johnson Island Prison. It also displays books, maps and manuscripts. When you visit, take in the panoramic view of Sandusky, Cedar Point and Johnson’s Island from the mansion’s widow’s walk. The Follett House Museum is listed in the National Register of Historic Landmarks.
Fort Ancient State Memorial --

Fort Ancient features 18,000 feet of earthen walls built 2,000 years ago by American Indians who used the shoulder blades of deer, split elk antler, clam shell hoes and digging sticks to dig the dirt. They then carried the soil in baskets holding 35 to 40 pounds. Portions of these walls were used in conjunction with the sun and moon to provide a calendar system for these peoples. The site offers beautiful vistas along hiking trails as well as the remains of the prehistoric mounds for visitors to see. Convenient picnic areas can be found along the road at the site. The Museum at Fort Ancient, newly built and containing 9000 sq. ft. of new exhibits opened on 22 March 1998. These new exhibits, containing many interactive units, focus on 15,000 years of American Indian history in the Ohio Valley. The Museum also contains a classroom, a research area, and a sales shop with many fine American Indian items.

Named in honor of Henry Laurens, then president of the Continental Congress, Fort Laurens was built in 1778 in an ill-fated campaign to attack the British at Detroit. The fort was abandoned in 1779. Today, only the outline of the fort remains, but a small museum commemorates the frontier soldier, houses a video giving the fort's history and archaeological artifacts from the fort's excavation.

Georges Seurat's Famous post impressionist painting, A Sunday On The Island Of La Grande Jatte, is created in topiary. It is the only topiary interpretation of a painting in existence. This "landscape of a painting of a landscape" consists of 54 topiary people, eight boats, three dogs, a monkey, a cat and a real pond. The largest figure is 12' tall.

This is the home of Benjamin Russell Hanby, composer of numerous songs-- Darling Nellie Gray and Up On The Housetop. Hanby played many roles in his life; student, abolitionist, father, teacher, minister. But it was as a composer that we remember him. The house was built in 1846 and occupied by the Hanbys from 1853 to 1870. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. The home contains furniture and personal items from the family. There is a walnut desk made by Hanby. The original plates for the first edition of Darling Nellie Gray and a large collection of sheet music and books are at the site. The house is maintained and operated by the Westerville Historical Society under agreement with the Ohio Historical Society

Learning Tree's mission is to provide hands on learning experiences in a traditional farm setting. Visitors can explore the farm, barns, and farmhouse on their own or by participating in a program. Children can feed the chickens, search for eggs, and interact with other animals on the farm, including donkeys, goats, miniature horses, sheep, pigs, and cows. There are always lots of baby animals in the spring. Every summer the Farm offers summer week long summer camps where children experience life how people lived in the past and spend the day caring for animals, and playing the old-fashioned way.

Malabar Farm in Pleasant Valley was the dream of the Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Louis Bromfield. Today, visitors can see the house and farm existing just as they did in Bromfield's time. The outbuildings and pastures still house chickens, goats and beef cattle. The hills are ribboned with strips of corn, wheat, oats and hay while the scenic trails are adorned with nature's bounty. Malabar Farm reflects the agricultural tradition of Ohio while focusing on Louis Bromfield's life and philosophies. The 32-room Big House, designed by Bromfield and architect Louis Lamoreux, is a blend of Western Reserve architectural styles and was built to appear as if it had been added onto over the years. Tours of the mansion, preserved just as Louis left it in 1956, are offered year-round. Wagon tours of the farm are offered May through October. During the growing season, Malabar Farm offers educational tours of its vegetable garden. There is a nominal fee for house and wagon tours. Contact the park for hours and fees.

This building contains hazards, including steep steps, uneven surfaces, and lead-based paint; therefore, the following rules are recommended for your protection: Children less than seven are discouraged from attending the tour due to environmental concerns Pregnant women should use extra caution inside building. The Orange Johnson House was built in 1811 and expanded in 1819. It is now a museum belonging to the Worthington Historical Society. The front portion built in 1819 is a elegant example of Federal style architecture with a lovely arched fan light entry and spacious rooms. The back portion of the house is a charming 1811 pioneer structure with a keeping room and working fireplace which is used on special occasions for fireplace cooking demonstrations. The house is furnished with period furniture, some of which have a connection to early Worthington families and activities.

This historic house museum provides a glimpse into the multi-generational lives of Dayton’s influential Patterson family, who lived on the site from 1804 to 1904. The Federal style house, which was constructed in three major components between 1810 and 1850, was originally the home of Revolutionary War veteran Colonel Robert Patterson and his wife, Elizabeth Lindsay Patterson. Frank J. Patterson’s son, Jefferson, donated the house and its 8.5 acres to the City of Dayton in 1953 for use as a meeting center and family memorial. At the time of donation, the house was presented fully furnished with 18th and 19th century antiques along with several original family pieces. Over the years, the artifact collection has grown to include more family-related artifacts that are housed in six period rooms. An exhibit gallery showcases the NCR story.

Atop a plateau overlooking the Brush Creek Valley, Serpent Mound is the largest and finest serpent effigy in the United States. SunWatch Indian Village/Archaeological Park is a partially reconstructed Fort Ancient period Native American village along the Great Miami River in Dayton, Ohio. The Fort Ancient culture as defined by archaeologists occupied the Middle Ohio River Valley between about AD 1000 and AD 1650 from what is now southeastern Indiana east to modern day West Virginia. The Fort Ancient peoples who lived in this area were the first intensive farmers of the area, and the last prehistoric group to occupy it prior to the arrival of European settlers. Unfortunately we do not know exactly who their modern descendants are.

In 1981, The Verdin Company, North America's oldest bell and clock company, purchased historic St. Paul's Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. Built in 1850, the Church had been decommissioned in 1975 and stood empty for six years. When The Verdin Company bought the building it was in extreme disrepair, and the restoration work was to climb to one and half million dollars. After the two-year-long work was completed, the beautiful building housed The Verdin Company corporate headquarters and the Verdin Bell and Clock Museum.

It was an undiscovered house built by Frank Lloyd Wright and is considered a major work because of his integration of the Prairie Style with the surrounding grounds and natural world. It was saved from complete destruction by the FLW building conservancy and is now completely restored. Tours are geared toward an older audience but docents are still very child friendly.

Throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, Loghurst was home to several families of farmers, each of whom placed their own special marks on the house through additions, interior renovations, and preservation. A circa 1840 log house covered with siding was discovered and moved to town property in 1969 by the Whitehouse Businessmen. They and other interested people formed the Whitehouse Historical Society in 1970 to continue the restoration project. The house was restored and furnished with furniture of the 1840's period. The first floor gives an inviting homelike appearance. The second floor has been turned into a museum for memorabilia depicting history of Whitehouse and the Maumee Valley.

The historic English Tudor Manor House was designed by Abram Garfield and constructed in 1908 as a summer residence for a prominent Cleveland industrialist. It was acquired by the City of Mentor in 1980 to serve as a cultural center. The following year, the Wildwood Estate was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Manor House, with its 34 acres of beautiful grounds and stately trees, is the perfect site for cultural and recreational programs. The annual Wildwood Arts Festival is held in June and the Holiday Show & Craft Sale is held in early December. The barrier-free Manor House is available for private rentals.
