Alexander Ramsey House --

Built in 1872 of native limestone, the home was owned by the first governor of the Minnesota Territory. The house contains portraits, furnishings, and artifacts belonging to the Ramsey family.
American Swedish Institute --
2600 Park Avenue S., Minneapolis, MN
The museum, located within the historic Turnblad mansion, showcases the Institute's collection of Swedish glass, decorative and fine arts, textiles, and items from Sweden. The permanent exhibit "Swedish Life in the Twin Cities" explores the local Swedish-American community through photographs, diaries, vintage recordings and immigrant artifacts. It took 200 craftsmen and 4 years to build the Turnblad mansion. Built for newspaper publisher Swan J. Turnblad, the house was completed in 1908 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This fine example of turn-of-the-century chateauesque architecture is filled with intricately carved oak, walnut and mahogany interiors. Painted plaster sculpturing decorates the ceilings. The centerpiece of the 33-room mansion is a two-story grand entrance hall. The house also features eleven unique Swedish porcelain tile stoves called kakelugnar.
Ames-Florida-Stork House --

The Ames-Florida-Stork House stands as an example of over 100 years of life in rural Minnesota. Arranged in a series of "period rooms," the house chronicles the lives of three of Rockford's most prominent families from 1862-1983. The museum houses an extensive collection of 19th and early 20th century furnishings and textiles, many of which are original to the house. Included is a butternut bookcase and chaise lounge made for George Ames and an 1884 rosewood piano belonging to Clinton and Meda Stork. The house also boasts a vintage clothing collection of over 200 pieces, some dating back to the Civil War era.

During your behind-the-scenes tour of Bachman's on Lyndale, you'll see the phone and internet center, which processes approximately 800 incoming orders every day. You'll also visit the fresh floral design areas where talented designers arrange the bouquets and centerpieces that give people so much pleasure. Other sights on the tour include the floral coolers, the delivery garage housing brightly colored vans, the greenhouse and the gift and home decor areas.
The Bakken Library and Museum --

An 1851 Steamboat Gothic home overlooking the Mississippi. It is a three story home, built into the side of the bluff, complete with a first floor kitchen/pantry/borning room, second floor parlor/dining and third floor bedrooms. The house has numerous artifacts and period furniture. There is a carriage house adjacent used as a gift shop.
Charles A. Lindbergh House --

Charles Lindbergh's 1927 flight across the Atlantic, from New York to Paris, brought him instant fame and recognition. One hundred years after his birth, and 75 years after the flight that inspired an aviation revolution, exhibits at the Charles A. Comstock House Historic Site --

The 1882 home of Ada Comstock, first dean of women at the University of Minnesota and later president of Radcliffe College has been restored and includes original furnishings. Inside, the warmth of varnished oak and butternut trim, and the ornate, colorful queen Anne Eastlake furniture and tapestries brighten the rooms.
Department 56 --

Since 1976, Department 56 has been a leader in the giftware, collectibles and holiday decorating industry, offering nearly 3,000 different products. Showroom tours are conducted by Consumer Services staff members in June, July and August at the Eden Prairie, Minnesota facility. Forest History Center --

Recreated turn-of-the-century logging camp. After the exhibits, visit the logging camp where you'll find the camp blacksmith, saw filer, clerk, cook and lumberjacks. Then, board the moored river "wanigan," a floating cook shack used when the logs and men headed downstream to the mills. Then take a seat on the porch of a 1930s Minnesota Forest Service patrolman's cabin and lookout tower and hear about the ranger's important work protecting woodland resources.
Forestville/Mystery Cave --

Guthrie Theatre --

A center for theater performance, production, education and professional training. You do not need tickets for a performance in order to visit the beautiful space. You can enter for no charge and explore public areas of the building. There are several tours available including Backstage Tours, Architecture Tours, Self-guided Audio Tours, or Costume Rentals Tours. They have many classes available also. They have free downloadable educational play guides, if you are going to see a show there (or to use while studying a play that they've produced.
Harkin Store --
Location: Eight miles northwest of New Ulm, on Cty Hwy. 21., New Ulm, MN
Savor the smells and sights of an 1870s general store as you sample the wares or try a game of checkers. Chat with the costumed staff, or sit on the porch and envision a steamboat plying the river below. When the railroad passed by the small town of West Newton, the store was forced to close with much of the unsold inventory still on the shelves, where it remains today.

The Hubbard House --

The Hubbard House represents one of the finest examples of the classic Victorian style that once graced South Broad Street, Mankato's "silk stocking district." In fact, the Hubbard House has survived in its original form, having been occupied by only the Hubbard family and Blue Earth County Historical Society. R.D. Hubbard built his house in three stages, 1871, 1888 and 1905 and the members of the family occupied the house for 67 years. About a quarter of what once belonged to the Hubbard family can still be found in the furniture of the home, as it was in their day. The remainder of the furnish ings and furniture is antique dating to the 1900 period and donated by generous patrons. The Hubbard House played a very significant role in the social life of Mankato - the pleasant ambiance provided by the Hubbards continues to delight visitors of this elegant residence.
James B. Wakefield House Historical Museum --

View historic James B. Wakefield House Museum in his 1867 home, Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal, and Etta C. Ross Memorial Library Museum. Enjoy a Tour arranged by appointment to restored buildings on History Lane including the Krosch Log House, Woodland School, Guckeen Post Office, Blacksmith shop and West Delavan Lutheran Church. In addition you can see an extensive collection of farming implements, barb wire and a gas station housed in the Antique Machinery Shed. Campground available.

Landmark Center --

Landmark Center was built in 1902 and originally served as the Federal Court House and Post office for the Upper Midwest. In the 1970s, a group of determined citizens saved the building from the wrecking ball and restored it to its previous grandeur. It was on the National Register of Historic Places and reopened to the public as Landmark Center in 1978. Today, Landmark Center serves as a cultural center for music, dance, theater, exhibitions, public forums, and hosts countless special events. Owned by Ramsey County, Landmark Center is managed by Minnesota Landmarks, a not-for-profit organization. Landmark Center also houses Anita's Cafe, Landmarket Gift Shop, five gallery spaces, and a number of St. Paul's premier arts and culture organizations.

Mayo Clinic --

Mayo Clinic is a famous medical center comprised of several bulidings in the city of Rochester. There are regular tours in the Gonda Building which are filled with historical info. On several of the floors of the Gonda Building, there are science and technology education centers with videos and interactive learning centers. The hand clinic has a wonderful educational center with videos of surgeries. Medically minded students really like this particular center.
Mill City Museum --

Mill City Museum is located in the heart of the warehouse district in Minneapolis. With a nineteen minute movie, hands on exhibits and an "explosive" elevator ride, it gives an exciting look at how the history of the Twin Cities and the flour industry. The soul of MCBA is the studio spaces where you find masters and novices working at letterpress printing, hand bookbinding and papermaking. In addition to the studios, there is an exhibition space, a studio shop, an archive and reference library, and offices. Visitors are welcome to observe the book art activity close-up. MCBA serves artists, students, teachers, designers, writers, families, youth, and book lovers through a variety of participatory programs. More than 20 years after opening its doors, MCBA is the most comprehensive independent book arts center in the nation.

Minnesota Streetcar Museum --

The Minnesota Streetcar Museum was created in December 2004 as part of the restructuring of the Minnesota Transportation Museum, which "spun off" its streetcar and steamboat operations to MSM and the Museum of Lake Minnetonka respectively during the winter of 2004-2005. MTM, which now focuses on railroading, was founded in 1962 to preserve Twin City Lines streetcar No. 1300 and, over the years, expanded into a multi-modal transportation museum preserving buses, a steamboat, streetcars, trains, and several railroad-related buildings. The Minnesota Streetcar Museum focuses on the preservation of Minnesota's electric railway history by acquiring, restoring, maintaining, and operating a fleet of eight historic Minnesota streetcars at the Como-Harriet Streetcar Line in Minneapolis and the Excelsior Streetcar Line in Excelsior. MSM also preserves artifacts, papers, and photographs that it uses to interpret Minnesota's electric railway history.

Performances are approximately one hour and take place at the Ordway Center. Tickets for the education performances are $3 per seat, regardless of group size. Sibley House Historic Site --

This museum is comprised of two houses. The 1835 Sibley house was the first stone house in Minnesota. Next door is the Faribault house which was built shortly after the Sibley house. The houses are furnished in period, with some original furnishings.
Soudan Underground Mine --
1379 Stuntz Bay Road, Soudan, MN
A century slips by when you visit this park. Visitors wear hard hats and journey down 2,341 feet via a "cage." On the 27th level, the transportation shifts to a rail car for a ride back into the mine as you listen to the stories of the mining days. Above ground visitors can explore the dry house, drill shop, crusher house and engine house. Visitors also can walk the boardwalk past one of the deepest open mine pits or hike the trails in the park through a northern hardwood conifer forest, past the famous Soudan Iron Formation.

On May 1, 2009, the Twin City Model Railroad Museum celebrated 75 years in the St. Paul community. The musuem is located on the 2nd floor of Bandana Square, a historic Twin Cities railroad building. The building was constructed in 1885 and once housed a Northern Pacific Railway repair shop.

Upper St. Anthony Falls Lock and Dam --

With a lift of 49 feet, the lock at St. Anthony Falls accounts for more than 10% of the total height change of the Mississippi River between the Twin Cities and St. Louis, MO. The Army Corps of Engineers also operates an observatory on this site. This Lock and Dam along with the Lower St. Anthony Falls Lock and Dam allow navigation to the head of the Mississippi River's 9-foot channel and spans the remnants of the Mississippi River's only waterfall. Tours of the facilities offered to scheduled groups.

The Walker Art center is an art museum which has an attached outdoor sculpture garden. In 1992 the sculpture garden was expanded from 7.5 to 11 acres, making it the largest urban sculpture garden in the country at the time. There are more than 40 works on permanent view. The Wildlife Science Center is a nationally recognized education and research facility. It is an independent nonprofit organization that is currently located on the grounds of the Carlos Avery Wildlife Management Area in Forest Lake, MN, an expansive natural habitat just 40 minutes from downtown Minneapolis or St. Paul. WSC is currently home to 43 gray wolves, 10 red wolves, 5 hybrids, 2 Lynx, 1 red fox, 1 skunk, 1 porcupine, 7 birds of prey, 3 bears, 2 gray fox, 3 raccoons and 2 New Guinea Highland Dogs. Most of the animals are on exhibit so please come out for a tour to see them. A great place to visit and learn in a fun up close manner with the animals. Their events are fun for the whole family to attend.
