Money Tip

Summary:Wash your Clothes for Less
Contributor:Sandra Jacobs
Savings:varies
Description:Did you know the average family spends at least two to three hundred dollars in energy costs each year to wash and dry clothes.

You can do like me and hang your clothes to dry whenever you can or make sure you change your lint filter on your dryer everytime to cut reduce your energy costs by up to 30%.

Also pay attention to the temperature your washing clothes in. Use cold whenever possible. And do you really need all that soap. How much can you cut back on soap and still get your clothes clean.

Of course check out the efficiency of your machines. The cost of a newer, more effecient machine may really cut back on your energy costs in the long run.
